I recently saw on a blog this book The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy as one of her top books to read due to the humor of it. At first I was not going to read the book, in fact I just received my order from Amazon of 4 books written from doctors, nurses, and researchers. Hello I went to grad school where "researched based" was discussed on a daily basis why would my baby/pregnancy/birth not be "researched based" as well? Jamie even made the comment are you sure we need 4 books (really 5 because I already have the Mayo clinic's guide)? Pshhh buddy this is just the beginning! Although I know I have a lot of knowledge of child development, speech, language, feeding and the (very basic) basics of OT and PT- I hate the parents who don't know anything! I always want to ask did you read your baby books where it should clearly state children should walk and talk around 1???? However, I have been struggling with not having anyone to talk to about the what I am going through. None of my close friends have kids yet and then everyone else had kids 26 years ago. My mom can't remember the first trimester! ( I love you mom) Everyone is sympathetic but no one is saying "oh yea I had that and this and that.. it get's better don't worry!" The advice I keep getting is don't gain too much weight.... So when none of my jeans don't fit I can't tell anyone because I'm not following the advice of not gaining too much weight. So I'm constantly worried about it to the point I almost refused to go to dinner because nothing fit right. HAHA It's funny now but it wasn't last night! Jamie's advice "Wear yoga pants." Thanks honey.
So I got the Girlfriends guide on my kindle LOVE! OMG I was hysterical I mean I was snorting I was laughing so hard. She gives her gods honest truth on what her and her girlfriends went through and woah do I feel better. I love this book. It's not researched based and it's not suppose to be but it is so nice to have a "friend's" perspective. And to know I'm not the only who ___ fill in the blank. So in between The Birth Book I take nice breaks to the Girlfriends Guide.
In the Epilogue she states this is the book for the women who gain 20 pounds from the first positive pregnancy test to their first doctor's appointment. Hahah who doesn't think that's funny.
*Don't read the reviews on this book because people are taking it WAY too seriously. Hello it's suppose to be a fun read not serious. The author even says that several times in the book.
