We found out on December 27th and it was a big surprise!! I had a feeling all month that we might be expecting but the pregnancy tests kept coming back negative until the 27th. Lucky for us some of our family was still in town for the holidays so we got to tell some of them. There was so foreshadowing or signs if you will..... I ordered my parents a wedding album and was mailed a baby album instead two days before Christmas. I was furious at the time but it came in handy for telling them we were pregnant! My old OBGYN that I haven't seen in three or four years called to tell me I needed to schedule an appointment.. She was right! We couldn't be more excited to be adding to our family!
Estimated arrival date: September 5, 2012!
I have been taking pictures along the way and writing updates each week. Here are the pictures.

Our chalk board! |
How far along? 8 weeks
Total weight gain: not sure
Maternity clothes? No. I am wearing loss fitted clothing as much as possible
Stretch marks? none
Sleep: For the most part great! Some nights I’m so exhausted I can’t sleep it’s weird.
Best moment this week: getting closer to the 2nd trimester
Miss Anything? Caffeine, sushi, soft cheese (brie, blue cheese, feta), wine
Movement: none
Food cravings: Yesterday was SALT. I ate salt and vinegar chips (at 9am) and I was seriously considering adding more salt to them... then I ate 10 pickles. I still wanted more salt. But for the most part I crave waffles. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’m also obsessed with water. I feel like everyone hour I ran a marathon that’s how thirsty I am.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eww a lot of things. I hate lunch. Meat. Mostly anything healthy makes me want to throw up.
Gender: Prediction girl.
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Tired, nausea from the time I wake up until around 3pm, dull headaches ALL day long, irritable (most likely due to the headaches- I am not a good sport when it comes to headaches), and just feeling off. It’s like constantly having a hangover- you want to lay on the couch all day, you can’t get enough water, and you can only eat certain items without puking. But the catch is it’s everyday and there was no drinking involved. Working out has pretty much become nonexistent- the bouncing moving motion makes the nausea so much worse and then I end up more tired and feeling awful the rest of the day. I’m attempting to do some yoga...
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, moody, nervous, all emotions right now. My advice to myself is the quit watching “The baby story” on TLC. I was crying out of pure fear. I’m still hoping the stork will appear with the baby...
Looking forward to: hearing the heartbeat and the ultrasound! Three more weeks!
How far along? 9 weeks
Total weight gain: 2 pounds
Maternity clothes? No. I am wearing loss fitted clothing as much as possible
Stretch marks? none
Sleep: Every other night I sleep great! Again, I’m sometimes too tired to sleep.
Best moment this week: getting closer to the 2nd trimester
Miss Anything? SUSHI! Coffee, champagne, wine....
Movement: none
Food cravings: Italian food. Loving noodles, bread, carbs, carbs, carbs. I’m also really obsessed with milk and sour cream. I was actually just dipping pretzels in sour cream... Still loving pickles. I HAD to have a turkey and cheese sandwich the other day (don’t worry I heated that organic lunch meat up until it was over steamy hot) and I usually hate sandwiches. I read online (which may or may not be true) that what you crave is your body’s way of telling you need more of it. I wonder if powdered sugar donuts was on that list... Obviously these cravings are not helping that whole weight gain thing.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Salad-gross. Granola bars- I literally had to put a piece in my mouth and wash it down with water while gagging the whole time- beautiful I know.
Gender: Prediction girl. Or twins don’t ask why but it’s a weird feeling I’ve been having. I am really hoping I’m wrong
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Headaches everyday all day. Still tired. Not as nauseas anymore which is great but I still have food aversions/cravings. Hungry!!! I have to eat every 2 hours or my symptoms go crazy- headaches, nausea, dizziness.

Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Excited! Happy! Emotional- I almost cry to love songs on the radio ahahha. Still crying during movies, especially about babies. Less moody and more myself- I still have my moments though. The headaches have started making me nonverbal so that helps with the moodiness.
Looking forward to: hearing the heartbeat and the ultrasound! Two more weeks!
Random: I haven’t had any really crazy dreams lately but here were the two best: I dreamt that I was the “girl” in a rap video. Was I tan? No. Skinner? No. I was pale pale white (think vampire) with a dark red swimsuit on and had gained probably ten pounds! AWESOME! HAHAH The second one Tim Teebo knocked up my friend and left her at the hospital to raise the baby by herself. Did I mention I hate Tim Teebo? He was very Christian in my dream....
How far along? 10 weeks
Total weight gain: 1 pound says the doctor- I'm going with his scale!
Maternity clothes? No. I am wearing loss fitted clothing as much as possible
Stretch marks? none
Sleep: I’m so tired I can’t sleep it’s only getting worse!
Best moment this week: getting our appointment changed to hear the heartbeat!!!!!!!!
Miss Anything? SUSHI! Coffee, hot dogs (I don’t even usually eat hot dogs but I want one), wine
Movement: none
Food cravings: Fruit, veggies dipped in ranch, still loving dairy- milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, carbs! Jamie bought hot wing chips... I have eaten the whole bag in two maybe three days :( yikes! They are so good! SALT love salt. Chips especially.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Salad, lunch meat, sprite. Bodily fluids- they have never made me queasy before but now oh my goodness! I had to take a little kid to the bathroom the other day I was gagging the whole time. Then I had a kiddo spit up (he’s 2) and I about lost it. Not to mention 13 year old boys making disgusting slurping burping AHHHH.
Gender: Prediction girl. I still would prefer a boy first since I have a big brother but girl stuff is so much cuter than boy stuff!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Holy headaches. I was down for four days with awful headaches. I would go to work and then come home and lay on the couch even on Friday night :( Tylenol which I am trying NOT to take doesn’t work anyways. Now I am super tired. I spend all day tired and then all night not sleeping well and then the cycle continues.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Both! Yesterday, my kiddos at work were driving me crazy which is really unusual. I’m still really emotional when watching movies. I don’t just tear up I cry for a good five minutes ahhaha. I’m pretty much like a teenager again- emotional, moody, acne, hungry, tired.. and I hated being a teenager! It will all be worth it though. I am happy/nervous to hear the heart beat! I hope everything goes well!
Looking forward to: hearing the heartbeat on two more days!
Random: I had a dream that my friend (who doesn’t know if she wants children or not) was pregnant with 8 babies! Her husband was super excited! hahaha. I also saw on someone’s blog that they took a picture of the wife sitting by the toilet to show her morning sickness...are you kidding me? Weirdo. Who does that?
10 week appointment was AMAZING! Turns out I only gained 1 pound- I should only gain between 2-5 in the first 12 weeks (the Mayo Clinic says only 2) and I still have 2 (or three depending on who you talk to) weeks so one pound is great. And we heard the heartbeat!! We were really nervous (we had heard a horror story 1 day before our appointment that did not help). The doctor was really laid back and told us it takes a minute to find it and the baby may be a little stubborn at first. So after what seemed like forever we heard the swishing sound of the heartbeat :) (tear). And he said chances of miscarriage are very very small at this point whew! We go for a sonogram in a week and a half so we can actually see the baby!! I can't wait!
